The 2024 Hyundai Kona N-Line is a refreshed take on the brand’s popular subcompact crossover, offering a dynamic combination of sportiness, modern design, and everyday usability. With a newly redesigned platform, an upgraded engine, and sharper styling, the Kona N-Line delivers a more engaging driving experience while maintaining the practicality that families and urban dwellers crave. Thanks to Hyundai Canada, we had the chance to see what this updated version of the Kona has to offer.

Under the hood, the 2024 Kona N-Line is powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 190 horsepower and 195 lb-ft. of torque. This powertrain provides a noticeable performance boost over the base Kona models, giving the N-Line the punch needed to make daily drives more exciting. Paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, gear changes are smooth and refined. Thanks to the new platform and revised suspension, the Kona feels confident and planted in corners. It’s nimble, with responsive steering that contributes to a more connected driving experience.

Visually, the Kona is as bold and sporty as ever, with distinctive design elements that help it stand out in the crowded subcompact SUV segment. The front end features a wider, more aggressive grille and sleek LED headlights. Our Ultimate Red N-Line tester came equipped with a contrasting black roof, 19-inch alloy wheels, and a wide-type sunroof. The sportier variant also features dual exhaust tips, silver side skirts, and an N Line rear spoiler.

Inside, the 2024 Kona N-Line balances its sporty character with everyday comfort. N Line-specific touches include red stitching on the seats and steering wheel, N Line scuff plates, and aluminum sport pedals. The leather/suede combination heated and ventilated sport seats are supportive and comfortable for long commutes or weekend getaways. The cabin layout is intuitive, with high-quality materials throughout that lend the Kona N-Line a more premium feel than its price suggests. Rear-seat space is adequate for two adult passengers, and while the Kona isn’t the largest in its class, it provides enough room for children or shorter trips. There is 723L of cargo space with the rear seats up, expanding to 1,803L with the 60/40 split-folding bench down.

Technology is a key highlight in the redesigned Kona. The Bluelink system allows you to stay connected via the mobile app, enabling features such as remote start and vehicle status updates. You can also use your smartphone or smartwatch as a digital key, and over-the-air updates ensure your Kona stays current. The N-Line comes equipped with a suite of advanced driver-assistance technologies, while the Ultimate Package further adds features like Remote Smart Parking Assist, Highway Driving Assist, Blind View Monitor, a 360-degree camera, and parking sensors.
Fuel efficiency is rated at 9.7L/100km in the city, 8.3L/100km on the highway, and a combined 9.1L/100km — a figure we were able to match during our test. This makes the Kona N-Line an appealing choice for urban families seeking a fuel-efficient crossover that doesn’t skimp on performance.
For 2025, the Kona is offered in three trims: Essential at $28,934, Preferred at $31,434, and N Line AWD at $38,434. Our tester, equipped with the Ultimate Package, is priced at $48,036.30 including taxes and delivery.
The 2024 Hyundai Kona N-Line is a compelling choice for buyers who want a subcompact crossover that’s as fun to drive as it is practical. With its redesigned platform, aggressive styling, upgraded interior, and solid fuel economy, it’s a well-rounded contender. While the Kia Seltos offers more space, greater ground clearance, and a more rugged design — ideal for families who prioritize practicality — the Kona N-Line is better suited to those seeking a more spirited driving experience.
