Renowned for its expertise in crafting high-quality luxury automobiles, the Lexus ES300h stands as a flagship hybrid sedan, epitomizing the brand’s commitment to elegance and environmental responsibility. As a recent addition to the ES series, this model represents a significant stride in integrating luxury with environmental consciousness. With generous support from Toyota Canada Inc. providing the 2023 Lexus ES300h F SPORT for an extensive week-long evaluation, we had the opportunity to thoroughly examine and explore the multifaceted features of this vehicle.

Under its elegant exterior, the ES300h boasts a refined hybrid powertrain, combining a 2.5-litre, four-cylinder engine with an electric motor. This partnership generates a combined output of 215 horsepower, skillfully balancing power and efficiency, albeit slightly lower for its class.
Notably, the transition from gasoline to electric power is seamless, integrating without obvious cues—so much so that one might not discern the shift unless observing the gauges. This proficiency, facilitated by the continuously variable transmission (CVT), stands as a hallmark of Lexus engineering, ensuring a tranquil and sophisticated driving experience in line with the brand’s legacy of high performance.

The ES300h exemplifies Lexus’s dedication to contemporary design underneath its modern exterior. The vehicle’s silhouette boasts refined lines and a distinctive spindle grille, presenting an air of sophistication and elegance. The use of LED headlights and taillights not only enhances the overall appearance but also ensures clarity and style.
Our test vehicle is optioned with Ultrasonic Blue Mica paint, accentuating its sleek contours, and equipped with 19″ F SPORT wheels, combining both style and functionality. Additionally, our tester is outfitted with the F Sport package, which offers a sportier appearance, including unique exterior styling, a grille, and badging.
Entering the ES300h reveals a haven of comfort and refinement. The interior is a meticulous blend of luxury and innovation, with high-quality materials and an eye for detail evident throughout. The plush NuLuxe Black leather-upholstered seats offer both comfort and support, cultivating a serene driving experience.
The intuitive infotainment system, boasting a generous 12.3-inch touchscreen display, seamlessly integrates with Lexus’s Remote Touch Interface, ensuring an effortless and user-friendly journey. Beyond the infotainment system, the ES300h is equipped with seamless smartphone integration, providing easy access to applications and navigation.
The voice command system responds accurately, enhancing the hands-free experience, and the user-friendly navigation system offers real-time traffic updates for a smoother driving experience. The 10-speaker sound system delivers an auditory experience that harmonizes perfectly with the tranquility of the vehicle.
The ES300h’s interior is spacious, offering ample legroom for both front and rear passengers, along with decent trunk space for regular luggage or groceries. The cabin is well-designed with practical storage compartments for smaller items, ensuring a clutter-free interior.
Advanced safety features are seamlessly integrated into the ES300h, from adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist to automatic emergency braking and blind-spot monitoring, offering peace of mind without compromising on luxury for both driver and passenger.
Behind the wheel, the ES300h exhibited composed handling, providing a smooth and comfortable ride. The electric power steering system offers precise control, contributing to its nimble performance. Cornering was confident, and the overall driving experience was serene and refined, ideal for daily commutes and longer journeys.
The 2023 Lexus ES300h stands tall as a paragon of eco-conscious luxury, epitomizing the brand’s dedication to sustainable mobility. With a starting price of $52,600, our tested model reached $55,100 before taxes and fees. While it might not be the most economical option in the hybrid market, it meticulously balances luxury, efficiency, and a commitment to a greener driving ethos.
Fuel efficiency ratings for the ES300h are 5.5L/100km in the city and 5.2L/100km on the highway. During our week-long test in the colder months of the year, we observed a combined average of 6.1L/100km. The 50-litre tank accepts 87-octane fuel.
The 2023 Lexus ES300h emerges not just as a sophisticated hybrid but as a holistic embodiment of luxury and environmental responsibility, standing as a testament to Lexus’s commitment to innovation, luxury, and sustainability. In a world where luxury and environmental consciousness sometimes seem at odds, the ES300h bridges the gap, offering an exceptional driving experience that conscientiously treads the path towards a greener, more refined future.
