The 2023 Kia Forte Sedan GT-Line is a standout example of Kia’s impressive sedan lineup. In this review, we’ll take a closer look at the sporty and compact Kia Forte Sedan GT-Line. We appreciate Kia’s design language, which seamlessly blends style and functionality. From the Forte5 and Forte Sedan to the Rio, K5, and Stinger, Kia offers a wide range of sedan options. Thanks to the PR team at Kia Canada, we were able to get behind the wheel of the 2023 Kia Forte Sedan GT-Line for this review.

It was a welcoming experience stepping into our test vehicle. Our Kia Forte GT-Line wears a sleek Hyper Blue finish and is complimented by 17-inch alloy wheels. A 6-speaker audio system, and a 10.25-inch colour display equipped with Kia UVO Link instantly made us feel like we were driving a car with upscale features. The Syntex upholstery, a synthetic leather substitute, further adds to the vehicle’s premium feel.
The 2023 Kia Forte Sedan boasts a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that generates 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque, delivering a smooth and comfortable ride on both the highway and city driving. The engine is paired with a CVT, which operates seamlessly and delivers great performance during our tests. Although the Forte Sedan’s power may feel inadequate when accelerating quickly to highway speeds, it’s generally sufficient for most daily driving needs. Additionally, while the engine can become a bit noisy at higher RPMs, this is a minor issue when considering the car’s overall performance.

The Forte Sedan comes equipped with a modern and sleek 10.25-inch infotainment display featuring Kia UVO Link. Connecting your device to the USB port enables easy access to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The touchscreen is easily navigable. The 6-speaker audio system does an adequate job of representing sound fields but lacks in low frequency.

When it comes to finding a practical and spacious compact car that’s comfortable for both the driver and passengers, the 2023 Kia Forte Sedan GT-Line is an excellent choice. While the car’s 10-way power-adjustable SynTex leather front seats provide ample support and bolstering, some drivers may find them less comfortable than those of competing models. However, the Forte’s spacious interior, ample legroom, and comfortable rear seats make it a practical and versatile choice for families and group travel. Whether you’re commuting to work or embarking on a weekend road trip, the Kia Forte Sedan GT-Line delivers a comfortable and reliable driving experience.
The Kia Forte Sedan is available in six different trim levels to suit different budgets and preferences. The base LX trim starts at $20,395, followed by the EX at $22,095, the EX+ at $23,795, and the EX Premium at $25,595. The sporty GT-Line trim offers great value for the price, starting at $27,495. The top-of-the-line GT Limited comes with a more powerful 1.6-liter turbocharged engine and starts at $30,795. Keep in mind that these prices don’t include destination, freight, or taxes.
According to Natural Resources Canada, the Forte Sedan has an expected fuel economy of 8.2L/100km in the city, 6.0L/100km on the highway, and 7.2L/100km combined, and is designed to run on 87-octane fuel with its 53-liter fuel tank. Our real-time numbers from a combination of city and highway driving returned at 6.9/100km over the course of 600 km during our week long test.
If you’re in the market for a practical and budget-friendly compact sedan, the 2023 Kia Forte Sedan GT-Line is worth considering. Its impressive fuel efficiency, comfortable and spacious interior, and stylish design make it a great value for the price. While it may face competition from other compact sedans such as the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, and Mazda3, the Forte Sedan holds its own and is definitely worth taking for a test drive.
