I’ve driven a fair number of luxury SUVs that claim to blend performance and refinement, but the 2026 Genesis Electrified GV70 Prestige doesn’t just blend, it fuses them together seamlessly. It’s clear this isn’t just another electric crossover trying to play dress-up. Genesis has taken its most popular North American model and electrified it with purpose, not just compliance. In Prestige trim, it’s a full-throttle indulgence.

Let’s start with the exterior. Genesis calls its design language “Athletic Elegance,” and for once, the marketing phrase holds up. The front fascia is bold without being brash, anchored by a G-Matrix Crest Grille that’s been reimagined for EV duty. It hides the charge port behind a seamless panel, while the two-line MLA headlamps give the GV70 a signature look that’s both futuristic and unmistakably Genesis. The 21-inch wheels on the Prestige trim fill the arches with authority, and the redesigned skid plate adds a touch of ruggedness to what is otherwise a very polished silhouette.
Inside, the cabin is a masterclass in restraint and richness. Genesis leans into its Korean design philosophy, “Beauty of White Space,” and the result is a space that feels curated rather than cluttered. The Prestige trim unlocks the full suite of indulgences: Nappa leather upholstery, a Bang & Olufsen 15-speaker sound system with Dolby Atmos, and the Ergo-Motion driver’s seat with seven air pockets that subtly adjust based on driving mode and speed. It’s not just comfortable, it’s responsive to your body in a way that feels almost sentient. One detail I appreciated was the Ultramarine Blue Nappa leather our press vehicle came equipped with. It adds a bold yet tasteful splash of colour to the interior. It’s the kind of choice that feels curated for someone who wants their luxury to whisper, not shout.

The centrepiece of the dash is the new 27-inch OLED display, which stretches across the instrument cluster and infotainment system in one sweeping arc. It’s sharp, intuitive, and elegant, with no gimmicky graphics or laggy transitions. Genesis has nailed the interface, and the Genesis Integrated Controller makes navigating it tactile and satisfying. Wireless phone projection is standard, while the wireless charging pad is perfectly placed. There’s no awkward fumbling, misalignment, or having your phone slide across the cabin under acceleration or the slightest movement.
Performance-wise, the Electrified GV70 doesn’t just whisper, it roars digitally when you want it to. With Boost Mode engaged, it rockets from 0 to 100km/h in just 4.4 seconds. That’s sports car territory, delivered with the kind of smooth, uninterrupted torque only an EV can provide. What really surprised me, though, was the Virtual Gear Shift (VGS) and Active Sound Design (e-ASD). These features simulate gear changes and engine sounds through the speakers, tailored to your driving mode and throttle input. It’s not just a gimmick, either. It adds emotional texture to the drive, especially for those of us who still crave the visceral feedback of combustion.

Range is perhaps where things don’t feel quite as top-tier as expected, even if they remain competitive. Genesis quotes up to 402km on a full charge from the increased 84kWh battery pack, which is likely more than enough for my daily mix of city errands. Longer highway drives, however, may require a bit more planning. When it’s time to charge, the GV70 supports 350kW rapid charging, taking the battery from 10% to 80% in just 19 minutes. Being equipped with a Tesla-style connector as standard also gives owners access to one of the best charging networks currently available.
Cargo space is generous, and the rear seats fold flat with ease. I’ve hauled everything from cigar shipments to weekend gear without issue. The driver’s seat memory system is a small but appreciated touch, especially when switching between my preferred driving posture and a more relaxed lounge-like setup for longer hauls. Not having a frunk, however, feels like a missed opportunity, especially considering how much attention Genesis has paid to comfort and thoughtful details elsewhere in the vehicle.
Genesis has also made strides in digital services. The GV70 integrates with the Genesis Connected Services platform, offering remote start, climate control, and charge management through your smartphone. It’s not just functional, it’s thoughtfully executed, with clean interfaces and reliable connectivity.

Driving the Electrified GV70 Prestige feels like stepping into a zen spa that can still dial things up to 11 when you need it to. Genesis hasn’t just built an electric SUV, they’ve built an experience. For someone like me, who values both performance and polish, it’s a compelling proposition.
