The 2025 Toyota Crown Signia Limited marks a significant evolution in Toyota’s lineup, blending luxury, performance, and practicality into a cohesive package. As a replacement for the Venza, the Crown Signia positions itself between the RAV4 and Highlander, offering Canadian consumers an image of sophistication through a moniker that has become representative of luxury and reliability in Japan. After spending a week with the 2025 Toyota Crown Signia Limited, thanks to Toyota Canada, it is clear that this crossover is a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

The Crown Signia Limited exudes a refined aesthetic that draws parallels to Lexus’s design language. Its elongated roofline and reduced black body cladding around the wheel arches contribute to a sleek and mature appearance, delivering a wagon aesthetic with understated elegance. The Limited trim features dark gray 21-inch metallic alloy wheels, which contrast nicely with the two-tone Finish Line Red paint and black roof. It’s hard to pinpoint whether the Crown Signia is an SUV or a wagon. Despite being classified as an SUV on Toyota.ca, the vehicle is long—measuring 4,930 mm (194.1 inches) in length—which means passengers are graced with a spacious cabin that delivers extra legroom and plentiful cargo space.

Inside, the Crown Signia Limited offers a tranquil and spacious cabin with a flood of natural light provided by the fixed-pane panoramic roof. High-quality leather seats provide comfort for both driver and passengers, with heated and ventilated front seats and heated rear seats as standard. The cabin is designed to minimize road and exterior noise, ensuring a serene driving experience using acoustic glass on the driver and front passenger windows. A 12.3-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia system with an 11-speaker JBL Premium Audio setup, including a subwoofer and amplifier, adequately serves audiophiles, with support for reliable wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. The quality of the interior borders that of a Lexus, with a well-appointed dash, soft-touch materials, and even velour lining in the trunk, adding a touch of sophistication. This makes it exceptionally comfortable for daily driving, providing an upscale experience for both the driver and passengers.
The Crown Signia Limited also offers practical cargo solutions with rear seats that fold flat and include a cargo area extension capable of supporting up to 40 pounds of weight. In general, with the rear seats up, there are 702 liters (24.8 cubic feet) of cargo space, and folding down the rear seats expands this to 1,872 liters (66.1 cubic feet). This ample space ensures versatility for various cargo needs, from daily errands to extended road trips and everything in between, making it an extremely practical choice for families or those who frequently haul large items.

Under the hood, the Crown Signia Limited features a 2.5-liter inline-four gasoline engine paired with electric motors, delivering a combined output of 240 horsepower. This powertrain has become commonplace across Toyota’s lineup, and while the overall performance is solid, the engine itself is uninspiring in a vehicle of this size and lacks a certain level of refinement, especially during a mid-drive startup of the combustion engine. However, its electronic On-Demand All-Wheel Drive (e-AWD) system enhances driver confidence by distributing power as needed, optimizing both traction and fuel efficiency. This system performed well during a week of abnormally heavy snowfall when we had this vehicle.
For those more attuned to driving dynamics, the steering feel is somewhat lifeless, lacking significant feedback after initial load-up. However, given its size, this light steering makes the vehicle remarkably easy to maneuver in parking lots or at low speeds.
Safety is paramount in the 2025 Crown Signia Limited, which is equipped with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0. This suite includes a Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Full-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, and Lane Tracing Assist. These features work in unison to enhance driver awareness and mitigate potential hazards, contributing to Toyota’s goal of zero casualties from accidents.
The hybrid powertrain of the Crown Signia Limited offers impressive fuel efficiency, which is one of its strongest suits. Natural Resources Canada rates the fuel economy of the Crown Signia at a combined average of 6.2 L/100 km; however, our real-world test mileage hovered around 8.5 L/100 km on Bridgestone Winter 2 Scorpion tires, likely due to the heavier demands of the e-AWD system during our test week. Despite this, the 2025 Crown Signia Limited remains an economical choice for both city and highway driving, especially with its ability to coast on electric power alone under light throttle application or while coasting.
In the Canadian market, the 2025 Crown Signia Limited is only available in the Limited trim, which starts at approximately $60,515.08 CAD. Upgrades, which the test vehicle was equipped with, include the “Limited – Advanced Technology Package” for an additional $2,075 and the $810 paint option. The Advanced Technology Package builds on the standard suite of safety features included in Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, most notably with Reverse Auto Tilt Mirrors, an HD Panoramic View Monitor, Parking Assist, Front Cross Traffic Alert, Traffic Jam Assist, and Puddle Lamps. This pricing positions it competitively within the hybrid crossover segment, offering a value proposition that could sway buyers from its sister brand’s NX lineup.
The 2025 Toyota Crown Signia Limited stands as a testament to Toyota’s commitment to innovation and quality. Its bold design, luxurious interior, versatile cargo space, and competitive pricing make it a compelling choice for those seeking a premium hybrid crossover.
