The Lexus LX has always been about presence. Originally conceived as a more refined, luxury-focused sibling to Toyota’s full-size Land Cruiser, it built a reputation for comfort and durability with genuine capability beneath the surface. The latest generation stays true to that formula but now adds a more adventurous option: the 2025 Lexus LX 700h Overtrail+, aimed at buyers who want rugged looks and modern comfort in one package.

Our test vehicle arrived in Earth paint with 18-inch all-terrain tires and a Stone Brown semi-aniline leather interior. We had it for a week of local errands and highway cruising, and it didn’t take long to see why the Lexus LX still feels like a statement piece.
Visually, the Overtrail+ trim leans into a tougher aesthetic without going overboard. Subtle black accents, all-terrain wheels, and functional hardware like the height-adjustable suspension give it the right stance. It looks planted and capable, but still every bit a luxury SUV. The styling works because it balances refinement and function, without shouting about either one.

Power comes from a 3.4-litre twin-turbocharged V6 (V35A-FTS), mounted longitudinally and paired with Lexus’ hybrid system. Total output is 457 horsepower and 583 lb-ft. of torque, delivered through a 10-speed automatic and full-time four-wheel drive. Around town, there’s plenty of punch, and the LX moves with real authority. The hybrid system smooths out stop-and-go traffic well, though transitions back to gas power in Eco and Comfort modes could feel more seamless. It’s not harsh, but in a vehicle this polished, a touch more refinement would elevate the experience.
Ride quality is excellent. The adjustable suspension absorbs broken pavement and expansion joints with ease, delivering a composed and quiet feel. Even on all-terrain tires, the LX 700h Overtrail+ rides quietly without feeling overly firm or floaty. The tires themselves strike a nice balance—capable enough for trails, without compromising on-road comfort.

In daily driving, the adjustable ride height is a standout. Lowering the suspension makes entry and exit noticeably easier, especially for elderly passengers or when loading gear into the second row. Visibility is commanding thanks to a tall driving position, wide mirrors, and a confident footprint.
Inside, the cabin is exactly what you’d expect at this level: premium, well-finished, and impressively quiet. The seats are supportive over long drives, with plenty of adjustments and effective heating and ventilation. The 25-speaker Mark Levinson sound system delivers crisp, detailed audio, though more tuning flexibility would be welcome. Bass-heavy listeners may wish for more control beyond the default presets.

The infotainment system includes a responsive 12.3-inch touchscreen running Lexus Interface with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The panoramic view monitor and parking sensors help in tight spots, although the camera resolution lags behind some competitors. Features like massage seats and four-zone climate control further elevate the luxury experience.
Practicality is decent, though the third row does eat into usable cargo space. With it upright, there’s just enough room for small bags or groceries. Fold it down, and the LX opens up into a much more usable hauler for family trips or road gear.

The LX 700h Overtrail+ is not meant to be a hardcore off-roader, but for owners who occasionally explore gravel roads or light trails, it’s more than capable. Multi-Terrain Select, Crawl Control, and Downhill Assist are all standard. It’s a confidence-inspiring machine that never feels compromised by its luxury focus.
We averaged 13.5L/100km in mixed driving over the course of our week. That’s reasonable for a full-size hybrid SUV of this size and weight.
Pricing for the 2025 Lexus LX 700h Overtrail+ starts at $136,059 in Canada. Our test vehicle, equipped with premium paint and the Overtrail+ package, came to $138,804 before freight, fees, and federal luxury tax.
The 2025 Lexus LX 700h Overtrail+ hits its mark. It’s a luxury SUV first, but one that retains the durability and engineering Lexus buyers expect. The ride quality is exceptional, the cabin is deeply comfortable, and everyday usability is thoughtfully considered. Cargo space with the third row up is tight, and hybrid transitions could be smoother, but these are minor notes in what is otherwise a highly complete and polished flagship. For buyers who want presence, comfort, and light off-road capability all in one, the 2025 Lexus LX 700h Overtrail+ stands out.
