The 2024 Nissan Sentra SR Premium is a car that’s quietly confident in the competitive compact sedan market. With a stylish exterior, a fuel-efficient engine, and a feature-packed interior, it makes a strong case for itself in the crowded Canadian automotive landscape. Under the hood of the 2024 Nissan Sentra SR Premium lies a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder engine that strikes a solid balance between performance and efficiency. This engine churns out 149 horsepower and 146 lb-ft of torque, which is more than adequate for day-to-day driving and even a bit of spirited fun on backroads. While it’s not a performance powerhouse, the Sentra offers a smooth, refined ride that’s ideal for city commuting and highway cruising.
The engine is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) that delivers power to the front wheels. The CVT technology ensures a seamless driving experience, although some may miss the more direct feel of a traditional automatic. That said, the engine performs well under most conditions, offering ample acceleration and smooth shifts that make the driving experience enjoyable. It’s not going to set any land-speed records, but it feels peppy enough for the typical driving demands most owners will have.
The exterior of the 2024 Nissan Sentra SR Premium is a noticeable step up from previous models. The new compact sedan features a sleeker, more aggressive look that makes it stand out in the compact sedan class. The front end is bold, with sharp headlights, a large V-shaped grille, and a redesigned bumper that adds a sense of attitude.
The SR Premium trim, in particular, adds sporty flourishes that elevate its appearance. Our tester is finished in Electric Blue with a contrasting Super Black roof and gets distinctive 18-inch alloy wheels that contribute to a more athletic stance. The gloss black front lip and side skirts make the Sentra feel just a little bit more performance-oriented. From the rear, the Sentra features sleek, angular taillights and a rear decklid spoiler that gives it an extra bit of flair. It’s a design that strikes a great balance between sophistication and sportiness, so whether you’re commuting through the city or taking the scenic route, the Sentra looks stylish and dynamic.
Step inside, and it quickly becomes clear that Nissan has paid attention to comfort and quality. The cabin feels airy and spacious, with a modern design that incorporates soft-touch materials, high-quality finishes, and plenty of tech to keep you entertained and comfortable on long drives. The SR Premium trim adds heated leatherette seats that are both comfortable and supportive. A reddish-orange stitch color complements the sporty interior throughout the cabin. We love the flat-bottom heated steering wheel and easy-to-read seven-inch drive-assist display. Dual-zone climate control and an eight-speaker Bose premium audio system are standard in the SR Premium. At the heart of the cabin is an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system that includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, which is very responsive and easy to navigate. While the back seat is not the most cavernous in its class, it offers enough legroom and headroom for average-sized adults, making it a decent choice for small families or carpooling.
Driver assistance tech is another area where the Sentra shines. The car comes standard with Nissan Safety Shield 360, a comprehensive suite of safety features, including automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, and rear cross-traffic alert. The SR also has Nissan’s Intelligent Around View Monitor, giving you a 360-degree view of your surroundings.
One of the most compelling reasons to go for the Sentra SR Premium is its fuel efficiency. It offers approximately 7.4 L/100 km city, 6.1 L/100 km highway, for a combined 6.8 L/100 km, which we matched during our test. This makes the Sentra one of the more efficient compact sedans on the market.
At its price point, the 2024 Nissan Sentra SR Premium offers impressive value. For 2024, the Sentra S MT starts at $25,155, S Plus CVT at $26,855, SV CVT at $28,255 ($1,300 extra for the moonroof), SR MT at $30,055 ($1,100 extra for the CVT), and SR Premium CVT at $33,255.
