The luxury SUV market is more competitive than ever, and Lincoln has stepped up its game with the redesigned midsize Nautilus. Combining sleek styling, innovative technology, and a new hybrid powertrain, the 2024 Lincoln Nautilus aims to attract premium buyers looking for a sophisticated and comfortable ride. Thanks to Ford Canada, we had the opportunity to spend time with the Nautilus Reserve to determine if it’s worth the investment.

At the heart of the 2024 Lincoln Nautilus AWD Reserve is a turbocharged 2.0L inline-four engine, producing 250 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. An optional hybrid model offers 310 horsepower. The gasoline-only engine pairs with an 8-speed automatic transmission, while the hybrid features a CVT. The Nautilus is tuned for smoothness and efficiency rather than outright speed. In daily driving, the powertrain delivers adequate acceleration for highway merging and overtaking. The transmission shifts seamlessly, contributing to a refined driving experience. The chassis prioritizes ride comfort, making the Nautilus an excellent choice for long commutes. An adaptive suspension system adjusts to road conditions in real-time, smoothing out imperfections and ensuring a serene ride. While the different drive modes add some dynamism, the Nautilus remains far from a performance-oriented SUV. Steering is light, and body roll is minimal during cornering.

Our Panther Metallic test model features a bold new design that significantly enhances its curb appeal. The updated front fascia showcases a larger grille with intricate detailing, flanked by sleek LED headlights that exude modern sophistication. The Lincoln Star logo illuminates as part of the Lincoln Embrace feature, complementing the exterior lighting. Sculpted body lines, a sculpted hood, and aluminum side rails contribute to the premium aesthetic, while the rear boasts full-width LED taillights and dual exhaust outlets for a sporty touch. A contrast black-painted roof is standard, and the optional 21-inch alloy wheels elevate the SUV’s striking presence.

Step inside the Nautilus, and you’ll find a meticulously crafted cabin that emphasizes comfort and luxury. The Reserve trim includes stunning two-tone Black Onyx/Allura Blue leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, and customizable ambient lighting. Our tester came equipped with the optional 203A package, which adds 24-way power-adjustable front seats with massage functionality for unparalleled relaxation. Space is generous, with ample legroom for both front and rear passengers. The cargo area provides 997L of storage behind the 60/40 split-folding heated rear seats, expanding to 1,947L when folded flat. An unexpected touch is the availability of seven Digital Scent fragrances, with up to three cartridges fitting in the center armrest, which doubles as a diffuser. Lincoln has also incorporated advanced noise-cancellation technology, creating a tranquil interior that isolates occupants from outside disturbances.

A standout feature of the Nautilus is its Lincoln Digital Experience, centered around a massive 48-inch curved display that seamlessly integrates the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system. The right side of the display is customizable via the 11.1-inch center touchscreen, allowing users to choose different widgets. This system includes a suite of Google apps, as well as Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa for voice-activated commands. Drivers can control navigation, music, and even smart home devices hands-free. The optional 28-speaker Revel Ultima 3D audio system provides an immersive listening experience, making every drive enjoyable.

The Nautilus is equipped with Lincoln BlueCruise, a hands-free highway driver assistance system that maintains lane positioning and adaptive cruise control, allowing the driver to relax on long journeys. Additionally, the Co-Pilot360 Vision 2.2 suite includes features such as pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-keeping assist. Parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, and active park assist are standard on the Reserve trim.

Lincoln rates the Nautilus’ fuel economy at 11.2L/100km in the city, 8.1L/100km on the highway, and 9.8L/100km combined. The hybrid variant offers a lower combined rating of 7.7L/100km. During our test, we achieved an impressive 8.3L/100km.

For 2024, the Nautilus Reserve starts at $62,395. Our well-optioned tester, with nearly $15,000 in additional features, came to a total of $78,745 at the time of testing.

The redesigned 2024 Lincoln Nautilus AWD Reserve is an appealing blend of luxury, technology, and comfort. Its smooth and composed driving experience, paired with a spacious and thoughtfully appointed interior, caters to the needs of both drivers and passengers. The 48-inch curved display and Lincoln BlueCruise set it apart from competitors, delivering a serene and cutting-edge experience. For those in search of a premium SUV, the Nautilus makes a strong case for itself in this competitive segment.
