Since its introduction in 1976, the Honda Accord has consistently embodied reliability, comfort, and performance in the sedan segment. With each redesign, Honda has continued to impress, and we eagerly anticipated experiencing the latest model. Thanks to our friends at Honda Canada Inc., we had the chance to test drive the 2024 Honda Accord Hybrid Touring for a week.

Our Radiant Red Metallic Accord Hybrid Touring boasts a powertrain featuring a responsive 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine paired with two electric motors, delivering a combined output of 204 hp and 247 lb-ft of torque. This blend of gasoline and electric power ensures a smooth and efficient driving experience, complemented by a seamlessly integrated continuously variable transmission (CVT) and front-wheel-drive (FWD) system. You’ll find that the Accord’s transition from gas to battery power is virtually seamless, offering ample passing power for both city streets and highway on-ramps.

Admiring the exterior, the Accord captivates with its integrated front end and smooth rear design, accentuated by long, horizontal tail lights that enhance its appeal. The touring hybrid model further stands out with its distinctive 19-inch Berlina black aluminum-alloy wheels, adding elegance to the overall aesthetic.

Step inside the Accord to discover a world of comfort and convenience. Dual-zone climate control, heated seats, and a sunroof create a welcoming atmosphere. Additionally, a 12.3-inch center touchscreen, heated steering wheel, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration enhance the driving experience. For those seeking the pinnacle of luxury, the 12-speaker BOSE® Premium Sound System, including a subwoofer, faithfully reproduces all audio notes from your daily playlists.
The Accord Hybrid Touring boasts well-cushioned, heated, and ventilated front seats that offer excellent comfort and support, making them ideal for long drives. In the rear, passengers enjoy generous space and comfort, with ample legroom and headroom ensuring a comfortable ride without feeling cramped. Additionally, the trunk space in the Accord Hybrid Touring is noteworthy, providing above-average room for all your weekend getaway essentials, with a cargo capacity of 473 liters.
The Accord’s steering is noted for its responsiveness, aiding in effortless maneuvering, particularly in tight urban spaces. Renowned for its adept handling, it confidently navigates curves, ensuring a composed and enjoyable driving experience. Moreover, the Accord’s regenerative braking system facilitates smooth and efficient braking, enhancing overall comfort and control during driving. Furthermore, the Accord, especially in higher trims, delivers a serene ride, effectively minimizing noise and vibration for an enhanced driving experience.
Safety is a strong emphasis for the Accord, demonstrated by its achievement of the prestigious Top Safety Pick+ award from IIHS in 2023. Standard safety features such as emergency front braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert provide assurance during every journey. Furthermore, the 2024 Accord is equipped with the Honda Sensing® suite, offering a range of advanced safety features like adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, collision mitigation braking system, and road departure mitigation system, among others.
Fuel efficiency truly shines with the Accord Hybrid, rated at 5.0L/100 km in the city, 5.7L/100 km on the highway, and 5.3 L/100 km in combined driving. During our test period, actual fuel efficiency hovered around 5.1L/100km over just shy of 1000 km of combined driving.
At the time of testing, the Honda Accord offered three trims: EX at $38,780, Hybrid Sport at $42,780, and Hybrid Touring at $46,280. Each trim caters to different preferences and budgets, providing versatility and choice for sedan enthusiasts. Despite the Accord’s initial cost, its blend of performance, safety features, and refined design justifies its pricing, making it a compelling choice in the midsize sedan segment.
The 2024 Honda Accord asserts its dominance in the midsize sedan segment, showcasing a harmonious blend of style, performance, and practicality. With its sleek design, engaging driving dynamics, and advanced technology features, the Accord sets new standards for the modern sedan. Boasting a comprehensive suite of safety features and cutting-edge driver assistance systems, it ensures confidence and peace of mind on every journey.
